Initial Consultation

Our process starts with an initial consultation with you and one of our designers. From here they’ll listen to your thoughts, feedback and visions you have of your space. We like to learn about you and your family and how you’ll use the space during this time. After your initial consultation, your designer will discuss our next step, our Design Contract. This is the next step to start drawing pretty pictures and seeing the creative visions we put into each of our projects. 

Someone’s Gotta Pay For This

We wish we could just hang out with you and build you the space of your dreams for free, but we’ve been told that isn’t a great business model. An important aspect of the design process is to estimate each element in the design and create a realistic budget for the project. Before considering the build, we want to make sure that you understand what the costs are so that you can make educated decisions regarding the project. Some clients decide to tackle the entire project at once, while others decide to break it into phases which can be implemented over time. Either way, we want to put together a budget strategy that is right for you.

Design Details Matter

Once you have been shown a conceptual design for your project, we need to start providing detail in order to properly estimate your project and so you know exactly what your project will entail.  This may include updating the design as your ideas about the space evolve, making material selections, and clearly defining a scope of work. Your designer will also be creating detailed plans and cross sections of certain design elements for estimating and starting the process of obtaining city approval for the project. And here you thought we just drew pretty pictures!

Don’t Worry, You Get the Pretty Pictures Too

During the design process, not only do you get plenty of high fives and fist bumps, but you also get to keep copies of the presentation design work that we put together for you. It’s our goal to build every design that we create. However, there are instances where the timing to build the project just isn’t right at the moment. If this happens to be the case for you, we want you to retain something to remember us by.

What Now?

We like to think of our process as a journey. If the initial conceptual design and consultation is figuring out where we want to go, then the design process is creating the route and the packing list to get there. Whether you’re an experienced traveler, or have never left home, your designer will be your guide to creating a fun and memorable experience as we plan out your journey during the build process.
